    No shock here.

Was either going to be him or Sanchez. Based on performances so far this spring, I would have been happy with either.

Yea not a huge surprise. Looking forward to seeing a bounce back year from him.

I love Stroman, and am not surprised at all by this.

    This guy isn't an ace.

And remember, he threw his team under the bus at least twice.

he's solid, won't lead a rotation but could easily be a strong 2 if he doesn't make himself bigger than the team

I'd say more like 3 or 4 on a good team. He's had a fairly high FIP his whole career. His words speak louder than his actions.

A high FIP? Are we looking at the same numbers?

Last year was his worst year as a pro and his FIP/xFIP were still 3.91/3.84. League averages were 4.15/4.15.

For his career, ERA of 3.91, FIP of 3.62 and xFIP of 3.48.

I'm not disagreeing that he's not an ace, but I do think that his elite GB rate and ability to keep guys off balance with different deliveries makes him a solid 2 or a high end 3.
